Becoming Jason is the first part of the Jason & Medea saga and covers the period from shortly before Jason's birth until the beginning of the Argonaut expedition. Jason is born amidst blood and violence as his uncle, Pelias, seeks revenge against Jason's family for the theft of his birthright and imprisonment of his mother. The noble centaur Cheiron reluctantly agrees to raise Jason as a prince of Greece, but difficult choices await them both as they accept the burden of Jason's destiny. And while the threat of Pelias and his agents is never far from Jason and his guardian, that threat brings them into contact with powerful allies, but also drives a wedge between the two. As Jason reaches adulthood, both he and Cheiron will need to rely on those allies as they struggle to gather the flower of Greece to embark on a deadly mission. Events draw Jason, Cheiron and their friends inexorably towards a showdown on Mount Pholoe where their attempts to recruit the most illustrious member of the crew will lead to a deadly conclusion.
