Pholus is a mortal centaur, borther of Nessus and Eurytus. But unlike his brothers he rejects the animalistic side of his character, aspiring to the peaceful nobility of Cheiron. Nonetheless, he is not afraid to speak out against his brothers' excesses. Despite Pholus' birth Creon welcomes his friendship. But this relationship and his respect for humans will place him in a perilous position when Heracles seeks his aid.
